Ten horses are trying to be the spoiler at the 2014 Belmont Stakes as California Chrome attempts to win the Triple Crown.
The field is set and the starting positions have been assigned. Now the excitement builds and the tension mounts as we wait for post time this Saturday in Elmont, New York
Here is the field and their post positions for the 2014 Belmont Stakes.
1 Medal Count 20-1
2 California Chrome 3-5
3 Matterhorn 30-1
4 Commanding Curve 15-1
5 Ride On Curlin 12-1
6 Matuszak 30-1
7 Samraat 20-1
8 Commissioner 20-1
9 Wicked Strong 6-1
10 General a Rod 20-1
11 Tonalist 8-1
Some will say that California Chrome has drawn a tough spot in the No. 2 post but we feel that matters less at Belmont with its track setup and smaller field.
Preakness Results… The Dumb Ass Partners seem pretty smart now!
California Chrome, the $10,500 race horse, has won the second leg of the Triple Crown with his victory in the 2014 Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, Maryland.
It was another solid race for the three year old as he once again slipped comfortably into third place and then made a strong move to take the lead and the win.
It looked for a moment as if Ride On Curlin would overtake California Chrome would had made his move earlier in the race than at the Derby but he somehow dug deep and powered on.
So it’s off to New York and the Belmont Stakes in three weeks to see if California Chrome can do what the past 12 horses to win the both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness have failed at. No one has won the Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978.
California Chrome has now won 6 straight races. Will lucky number 7 make history?
